Need Reader Help --- Walgreens

Well many of you heard my wonderful annoucement at the end of August that the new CVS was now opened. Well Walgreens is not far behind. It looks as though it will be opened in the next month or so.
So I need your help. I've never shopped at Walgreens before and need some help in figuring out how to work the deals there. I know they have something called Rebate Rewards but not sure how all that works.
Have you found deals better at CVS or Walgreens? Have you found Walgreens to be better as far as coupons are concerned?
Please leave comments or links so you can help me.

I previously used CVS more than Walgreen's because I liked the deals better, but lately, I've been favoring Walgreen's.

They have two systems...
One is called Register Rewards and is almost the same as ECBs at CVS. I don't like them as much though because they expire more quickly than ECBs. So unless I KNOW I have something else to buy using them, I don't use them. Bad news about them...you can only get one R/R per transaction. So if you do a deal 4 times, those items have to be paid for in 4 transactions because only one set of R/R will work per transaction. Godd news...the number you can do is unlimited (unlike CVS) because they don't track your deals with a member card or anything.

The other thing WAG does that I like is the rebates. Every month they release a booklet of coupons and rebate items. This past month they had like 6-8 items that you could get a full rebate on (and many more that you could get a partial rebate on). I only do the ones that I can either get a full rebate or get the item free with rebate and coupons. That's just how I am. However, the cool thing is you can either request a rebate check by mail to get the full amount or get them to put it on a WAG giftcard, which they add 10% to. So unlike full ECBs back, you actually get the item FREE and then some because even you tax is paid for! You can register for your rebates online and get them pretty quickly. I explain how in this post.

So I know you didn't ask for an entire dissertation, but you got it...you know I'm wordy. I personally have liked CVS in the past more b/c I don't like WAG's R/R expiration dates, but they both have their strong points and I do use them both.

By the way...I'm glad you're getting one. Probably across the street from the CVS, right? That seems to be the trend.

I think you can do well at both and I find myself shopping both since I have one of each close by.

Once thing I have found is that if an ad states 2 for x amount of dollars, then you have to buy 2 at Walgreen's where CVS (at least the one I shop at) lets you have one item at the sale price.

I prefer CVS but Walgreens has had some pretty irresistible deals lately--check out this site--I find it helpful http://fromwagstoriches.entempore.com/
